Your SQL Health Score: the free check now has a name

We’ve given the free SQL Server health check a name: the SQL Health Score.

Same check underneath. A read-only scan of your SQL Server — 500+ checks across backups, security, patching, configuration, performance and licensing — that runs in minutes, changes nothing, and leaves nothing behind. Why name it?

Because “a health check” is a thing we do, and a score is a thing you have. You can put a score in front of a board. You can compare it to last quarter’s. You can hand it to an auditor, or to the new IT manager on their first week, and they know where the estate stands without reading forty pages.

The grading is the same one behind our governance reports: an estate arrives at, say, 63 — materially exposed, backups taken but never restore-tested, access over-privileged — and six months of focused remediation later it sits at 93, with the evidence to prove it. The score is the before-and-after of that journey, compressed into one number you can track.

What it isn’t

It isn’t a survey. Most “free assessments” in this market are a questionnaire about your environment — your answers in, a PDF of your answers out. The SQL Health Score is a real read of the engine: what the DMVs, the configuration and the backup history actually say, checked against the same 500+ rules we run in paid engagements and mapped to the frameworks auditors care about.

It also isn’t a sales trap. The findings are yours to keep whether or not we ever work together. We don’t resell licences and we’re not a Microsoft Partner, so if the biggest finding is “you’re paying for Enterprise you don’t use” — and it often is — the only person that saving belongs to is you.
