A port's gates, unblocked

· Adrian Sullivan

A port operator had boom gates running slowly enough to throttle truck volumes. The queue backed traffic out onto the public road.

When the gate system is slow, the trucks wait, and the queue does not stay inside the fence. A database problem had become a problem the whole city could see.

We did the performance work on the SQL Server behind the gate system.

The gates open faster, the trucks clear quicker, and the queue eased.
